So not only did I have to install new updated Linux Distros on my 2 notebook computers, but now my Brother printer-scanner has quit.

I went to print out something yesterday and the printer said the the yellow print cartridge was not seated.
I followed the steps shown on the display and  removed the cartridge, then powered off the printer for 5 minutes and re-installed the yellow cartridge and was still told that the yellow cartridge was not seated.

So, ok I only had a black text document to print, so I set print job to just print in black.
The Brother printer still said the yellow cartridge was not seated and refused to print the black text document. Grrrrr.

That is ridiculous that the Brother printer would not print a black text document that I set to use only black ink.

The modern world is not designed to make sense. It's designed to move money to the wealthy and sell product.

Sorry about your problem.

Update on my Brother printer scanner, yellow ink cartridge not seated, error message on printer display.

I ordered another single generic, yellow ink cartridge from Amazon.
Installed the cartridge and the ink cartrige not seated, error message went away and the printer started a print job, without problem. Yaaaay.

When using generic ink cartridges in the Brother printer, the printer display no longer is able to show how much ink may be left in the cartridge.

I think I will need to replace the other colour and black cartrodges in the printer, because the printing quality has been poor lately but I thought it was just the print heads that needed cleaning.
I think now, that the cartridges are just getting low on ink.

I still think it sucks that the Brother printer will not print black text, when one of the colour cartriges fail. :-(
