Good one! :-)

Quote from: Jason on Yesterday at 02:07:31 AMI had a Gameboy! And then later the Gameboy Color. Of course, I had Tetris, too. I wasn't great at it but I enjoyed it. When I order too many groceries, I tell my wife I'm playing Tetris with the freezer.

Quote from: buster on July 16, 2024, 12:04:36 PMThis BBC article lists the possible replacements in a simple, clear manner. I hope it's Gretchen because she's the prettiest, as well as being a good politician.

Even before reading the article, I knew she couldn't choose a woman. It's bad enough for a certain segment of the population that she's a woman, more so because she's a racialized one. She has to pick a boring white dude from one of the swing states, maybe even a Christian, as hard as they are to find among Democrats. If age didn't matter Andy Beshear (Kentucky governor) would fill the bill.

Tim Walz, Minnesota Governor, formerly worked 20 years for the National Guard, has religious convictions and a plain-spoken manner.  Senator Mark Kelly looks good, too, former astronaut and from Arizona, a swing state that could open up the midwest. Husband to Democratic Gabby Giffords who was seriously injured in a mass shooting. And he has occasionally criticized the Biden Administration. While that could cause some tension with Harris, it's sure to make him more presentable to Republicrats (Red-leaning Democrats) and Independents.

Which one of the MEN would you choose, Buster? "Pretty" might deliver the men's vote but often has the opposite effect on women.

LOL. I hope that doesn't become a necessary job requirement for the office. Trump has certainly shown it's not a dealbreaker.

QuoteSo an owner can feel safe driving on the highway with a vehicle that might catch on fire???  :-(

You just described every vehicle ever made. Someone had a pickup truck in front of our apartment years ago. I heard a weird sound and went to look outside to see the engine on fire. Seconds later, it (the engine or something in the engine) exploded. I saw it. It wasn't a huge explosion but it was LOUD and I wouldn't have wanted to be next to it. I don't have the data but I bet that car fires are more commonly caused by gas-only powered vehicles. Maybe it's worse with a hybrid.

From my read of the article, it's pretty rare (7 cases) and where it happened the vehicle was off or charging. And nobody died or was seriously injured but 4 were treated for smoke inhalation.

However, Lithium Ion batteries can catch fire or even explode under certain conditions. Usually, it's when the battery is punctured, twisted or otherwise deformed, like in a car crash. I saw a documentary showing a new battery in development that you could fire a bullet through and it wouldn't catch fire. They can't come soon enough. Meanwhile, your phone has a rare chance of catching fire in your pocket right next to your vitals. :D

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetris_(film)

I remember this computer game back in the late 1980's, when it became very popular.

It really shone on the Nintendo Game Boy, handheld computer game player.

I found the movie a bit hard to follow for all the going on of negotiations of the distributions rights from the Russians, were the Russian guy who developed the game, lived.

The movie credits seemed to show it was partly sponsored with Canadian supporting funds.

Looks as if Harris will be the candidate. If you don't know much about her, here's an easy summary. BBC again.

I bet Buster wonders why I don't just ditch Linux and only use Windows for everything. I have considered it and that's alarming. :D
