Pop!_OS is a new distro developed by System76, an American company that makes and sells Linux computers. Pop!_OS is based on Ubuntu, but System76 added a few tweaks to make it distinct. Mike Fox will be demonstrating Pop!_OS. He will review its design and unique features, first on a live USB, and then on an installation, which he will perform at the meeting.

I look forward to seeing everyone again on Monday, I hope to snag some time toward the end of the meeting to have a Q and A session and get a feel for where we are, and where we want to go :)

This meeting has been cross posted to facebook, the mailing list, and to various other groups that I am a part of.

We had a very good meeting, last night, with good attendance!
William, Paul, Glen and one other regular, whose name escapes me, all made the trip in from the Oshawa/Toronto area.

Mike gave a very informative and detailed talk/demo on the new Distro, PopOS from the System76 linux computer builder.  Thanks Mike!

I gave a brief talk and demo, on the Income Tax Software program, MyTaxExpress. This is a Windows OS software but it runs well on Linux, using the WINE software program emulator.
Thanks to Paul for providing me with an HDMI to VGA adapter dongle, so that I could show my demo on the room projector!

Most of us continued on to the Monaghan Rd, Tim Hortons, for a good chat, after the meeting was ended.

Bill

Opps,  i forgot to mention that Brian,  who is the plug president, gave some ideas he will be implementing,  to promote the PLUG club, to make the club more known.  Hopefully this will result in growing the membership of the club.

And thanks for your excellent tax presentation, Bill. Good to know there's at least one non=online tax program that you can run from Linux (via Wine). This inspires my to try to do the same with my favourite tax program (Taxfreeway), which I had been running on the MacOS.

Thanks Mike!
Do let us know if you are successful in getting Taxfreeway, to run under Linux.  Maybe post your result, in my Forum posting about Income Tax software programs.

Thanks to you both for both presenting. I'm sorry I wasn't able to make it. Did you have any notes or slideshow from it, Mike?
