Mint Linux is my favourite Distro. I have it dual booting on all my notebooks and desktop computers.

However my one very big annoyance with it, is that to shut down the Distro, it takes 3 mouse clicks, to do so.  So MS Windows, mentality. Ridiculous and not an elegant operation!!

I finally got annoyed enough, that I went and Googled for a 1 click shutdown, solution.

Here it is!  It works great!  https://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/1113

Note:  For the line about changing the default icon, that is used for the shutdown,  I used the icon suggested in one of the Comments.  The icon is titled, gnome-shutdown.svg
However, on my Mint 18 install, this icon is not in the folder, shown in the Comment.

To change the default shutdown icon I right clicked on the default shutdown icon, that shows up on the desktop. Click on Properties, in the menu. Left click on the icon image, in the window.
Click on the icons folder, that shows on the left hand side of the window. Go to the MintX folder, go to the Apps folder, go to the 96 folder, scroll down the list of icons, until you find the, gnome-shutdown.svg and click on it and the Open button, if necessary.

Now, I have an "elegant way", of shutting down my Mint Distro! :-)

Windows has keyboard shutdowns which are quicker than mouse clicks. Doesn't mint have a keyboard sequence? Just curious, because you have solved your problem nicely already.
Growing up from childhood and becoming an adult is highly overrated.

Thanks for the tip, Bill. It doesn't bother me but I can see how it might bother some people. Maybe that's because Ubuntu MATE does the shutdown in two clicks. I think that might be a desktop thing more than the distro thing. I assume you're using the Cinnamon version of Linux Mint?

Yes, I am using the Cinnamon Desktop.

Pretty much, all the time, I am browsing the Internet , with  a browser and using a mouse. I don.t want to drop down to the keyboard to do some task, if it can be done with a mouse, operation.
