For some reason my Chrome is now almost instantaneous on second and subsequent call ups. Magic as far as I can see. Old slow hard drive too. Probably fully in memory till it gets swapped out.

I'm not sure what changed other than perhaps going from Ubuntu 15.10 to 16.04, but Chromium now boots up in about 2 sec on my Mac mini, not counting the loading of "earth view from Google maps" (adds about 3 sec but is very cool!). On the other hand, Firefox was really slow (about 10 sec) until I disabled two add-ons (Ubuntu Modifications and Forecast Plus). Once I did that, FF starts up in about 3 or 4 seconds.

Mac user running Ubuntu 16.04 (Unity, Gnome) on Dell XPS 13 (4gb RAM, 250gb SSD)
Ubuntu 16.04, Chromixium, Remix OS and Crunchbang++ on upgraded 11.6" Acer 1810TZ Olympic Edition (4gb RAM, 240 SSD)
Ubuntu 16.04 on Mac mini, iMac & Dell 7020
