I remember this computer game back in the late 1980's, when it became very popular.

It really shone on the Nintendo Game Boy, handheld computer game player.

I found the movie a bit hard to follow for all the going on of negotiations of the distributions rights from the Russians, were the Russian guy who developed the game, lived.

The movie credits seemed to show it was partly sponsored with Canadian supporting funds.

I had a Gameboy! And then later the Gameboy Color. Of course, I had Tetris, too. I wasn't great at it but I enjoyed it. When I order too many groceries, I tell my wife I'm playing Tetris with the freezer.
