Post by: ssfc72 on August 04, 2018, 04:33:41 PM
Anyone interested in getting together for a PLUG Mug?

Any evening, Monday to Wed, would be ok with me.

Bill

I think Monday would OK since likely nothing else is going on. Not sure if Mike is here, though. I remember he said he was going away again, just don't remember when.

Lol. How long are you there, Mike?

Regardless, I'll get together with you tomorrow at Timmy's if you want, Bill but I can understand if you don't want to come out just for me. Maybe we can entice Dougal into coming out again? What do you say, buddy?

I believe mike said he was away for 2 weeks.... not sure if tonight will work for me yet, usually i drop by after the TL closes at 8pm but it's not a Tool Library night because of the holiday , if i'm free i'll walk up to TIM's....what time are you planning on being there?

I'll be there just after 7 pm. The last bus leaves the station at 6:40 pm and it's hot enough that I plan to catch it down.

Yeah, I'd be open to tomorrow night. Dougal?

I was going to go tonight but yeah, looks like it's expected to be nasty and I'd have to walk back in it so I'll pass.

I should be free to walk up there around 7ish...wondering if either of you might have a dvd-rw disc that I could try in this imac....i would be wanting to erase what's on it or if it's new i would return it or replace it.

I know you're probably trying to be environmentally friendly and all but does it really have to be a rewritable DVD? I'm not sure if I still have one but I will look.

Me dapper? Unlikely! ;-)

Mac booting iso's, 32bit UEFI on a 64bit processsor. What a mess but it will get there  - https://mattgadient.com/2016/07/11/linux-dvd-images-and-how-to-for-32-bit-efi-macs-late-2006-models/ this article has been updated to include ubuntu 18.04 images, and if you want to build a slim system on a core2 with 4gb of Ram a bottom up approach is always the way I go.

Commandline install X, install openbox, openbox-session and boom a wee little speedy desktop.
