Title: RemixOS Discontinues the desktop product
Post by: ssfc72 on July 23, 2017, 11:44:15 PM
A news item on the Distrowatch website says the RemixOS is discontinued.
http://www.jide.com

Jide says they will be focusing on the Enterprise sector of industry, instead of the consumer sector.

Very sad, to hear this news.  I was looking forward to the Nougat Android version of Remix.

That is sad to hear. I hope somebody else picks up on the idea and runs with it.

I'm not so sad about it. I had RemixOS on my distrohopping laptop for quite awhile, and while I thought the concept was neat, the implementation was very clunky. That made it no fun to use, so after awhile I just wiped it of my laptop.

The last release of RemixOS worked very nicely for me, on my notebook computer. :-)

I'm kinda in the same headspace as Mike; nice concept, but things just didn't quite come together into a smooth-running, intuitive interface that allowed you to make use of elements other than a touchscreen. It could be managed, but... And the thumbs-up fades from view right there...
