I could just disable the stat collecting if you it makes you feel more comfortable, Buster. ;D

My theory is that the hackers from the Ministry of Truth just adjust the numbers as a social experiment.

I hope the weather is good but you're likely right. No road-trips to Texas, then? ;)

If you do go down, maybe I can get a ride with you? We could work out the details over email. I can throw in for gas.

I will be going to the Cobourg beach. That is where I went for the last total solar eclipse back in the 1980's.

However, knowing our cloudy/rainy weather that we have in our area, I sort of expect the day of the eclipse will probably be socked in with clouds/rain. :-(

My conspiracy theory is that some hostile foreign country is trying out, bringing down the internet, with DOS (denial of service) attacks. :-)

Don't think anyone is listening brother. Obviously our website is going to be a portal for the invaders, and Peterborough Linux member's homes will be their base to conquer the world.

Once they have a base on earth, they will be unstoppable.

Humans can't see what is right in front of them!

The views we are getting are far beyond anything that has occurred before by at least a factor of ten. The number of views is astronomical, and the numbers confirm it.

If you go to Forum Stats just above 'most recent posts' and open it, you can scan down to the bottom and see dates on the left and views on the right.

The month of February 2024 had 1,325,991 views. And the month had only 29 days.

The whole year of all but two of the rest had a lower number of views than the one month February.

We also are only two months and a bit into 2024, and already we have more views this year  than any year in our records.

Speculations welcome. The weirder the better.

I didn't know you were going through to fix that. Cool. I see now the numerous edits.

I was going to ask you if you had any plans to go to Cobourg to see it, Bill. I bought some eclipse glasses. I plan to go even if it's by my lonesome. None of this partial eclipse here,Cobourg is too close to miss out on a total eclipse.

Massive increase in views for our site!

Go to just above 'Latest Posts' and click 'Forum Stats'
Scroll to the bottom of that page and open up some of the years and months by clicking the triangles on the left. Compare views of visitors, listed on the right, for say Mar 1, 2024, with any other March 1 in any other year.

But it appears the huge number of views in not 'a rising tide lifts all boats' thing. The Unpleasant Computer Problem has had 111 views in the last 12 hours. Adventures has had only 42. In total the 5 stories have had 318 views in the same 12 hour period.

If someone else took a different page and arranged the posts from most viewed to least, and recorded numbers for say three threads, we could find out if other sections are getting more views as well. Be careful not to open one of the threads as that will affect the numbers and skew the results.

People or aliens from other solar systems are visiting the site in numbers larger than have ever been recorded, starting this February, unless I've missed something and am totally wrong, as does happen often.
