(Never managed to fall in love with Mint. It always seemed 'heavy' to me as an operating system. Touch slow.)

I also found Mint slower than Ubuntu, and more energy consuming as well, although I haven't tested it in a few years. Also, Mint doesn't feature either of my preferred desktops, Unity and Gnome.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to try it. My LM 17.2 Cinnamon 64-bit has decided it no longer knows what other computers are connected SAMBA'ish, and I'm forced to use IP addressing to get around my network manually. Doable, but a bit of a PITA...

Weird... It's been really good for... Well, since it came out, I suppose... ??

The Linux Action Show did a review of Linux Mint last Sunday; view it on Youtube here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKGl6t1Uc4Y). It starts at minute 59. Chris Fisher gives it a mixed review; he really likes the desktop and the convenience of it, but is negative about it from a security point of view.
