Title: Government COVID-19 App
Post by: Jason on September 02, 2020, 01:34:20 PM
I put this app on my Android phone. Anybody else download it? I think it's a great idea and it looks like they've taken great pains to protect the privacy of its users.

Forgot to ask you, and you can PM me if you don't want to say here, I assume you tested negative? I had the test last week and got the results today - negative.

Did you find it uncomfortable? I sure did. I thought it just went up the nose but the nurse (I assume it was a nurse) told me beforehand it'd go into my throat, well, the top part anyway. I wouldn't dissuade anyone from getting it, but it was... unpleasant. At least it was fast.

It tweaked for a second. Over in less than 10 seconds and I didn't feel anything afterwards. I expected worse. The uncomfortable aspect of it was way overblown in my mind. If there is a reason for me to get another test, I wouldn't hesitate.

It didn't take long for me either, probably even less than 10 seconds but it felt like an eternity. First, I'm thinking "okay, this isn't so bad" then I felt extreme itchiness for a second. I was worried I was going to sneeze on him. Then I felt a bit of pain but more just pressure than pain. It reminded me a bit of when a dentist puts in the freezing but quicker. It was more uncomfortable than I thought it would be as I wasn't prepared that it would actually enter my throat. I don't think it's overblown; I just think it's different for each person because of the differences in the sinuses. I have a deviated septum and he put it up the wider nostril but it didn't feel like it. It felt fairly tight.

I had it done at the Kinsmen, probably the same as you. No symptoms, at least not then. The week before I had a mixture of chills and hot flashes for a few days. I'm use to getting hot flashes but not chills within minutes of the hot flash and then back again. And a lot of fatigue for maybe a week. There were other "symptoms" but I put that in quotes because they weren't really symptoms in that they are issues I have on a regular basis - headaches, runny nose/congestion, change of appetite. I never lost a sense of smell or taste but food did taste a little different the past few weeks.

I'd do it again, too. Even if I hadn't come into contact with anyone with it, which I haven't that I know of. That's why I think this app is important, to us and to others.

Oh, I forget that it was. I remember you saying it was on a Sunday. How did the guide fair? Have you been in touch?

The guide was negative as well, but I didn't hear that for a week after my test.

Good thing, too! It would have been nice if he had let you know right after. I'd be really pissed if somebody did that to me. Not just this but the fact he didn't go and get tested right away when he was getting sick. Quebec has been a real hot spot for COVID-19 with 50% more cases than Ontario.
