That is sad news.
I'm not sure if I'd use the word sad given his disturbing history (https://www.theregister.com/2018/11/15/john_mcafee_liable_death_neighbour_belize/) but Wikipedia notes that his antivirus program was the first commercial antivirus ever. He certainly started what is probably one of the biggest software sectors and the program still bears his name.
