Copy-paste working only every other time in Ubuntu 19.10

Such a weird bug. Did you try installing a clipboard tool? There must be one for Gnome. I'd be just be curious if it would (1) work, and (2) if it didn't work, it would show you if the problem is the copy part or the paste part. The clipboard tool will show you that has been copied to the clipboard. And if paste doesn't work then, it's definitely a problem with the application you're trying to paste to.

It's the copy part for sure. I did install a clipboard tool temporarily to see what was going on. The tool itself didn't help. It appears that when not working, the copy part is, at least sometimes, emptying what's been saved on the clipboard so that when I go to paste, nothing gets pasted. Other times, the copying doesn't go to clipboard, but what's in the clipboard from the previous copy stays and gets pasted.
