Title: Cities That Went All In on Social Distancing in 1918 Emerged Stronger for It

For those, including people like Trump and others, who say that we need to worry about the economy more than the interventions that we're taking or that they should be shorter in length, would do well to read this article (https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/04/03/upshot/coronavirus-cities-social-distancing-better-employment.html?action=click&module=moreIn&pgtype=Article&region=Footer) from the New York Times.

Using evidence from the Spanish Flu and interventions to stop the spread, we can see that the cities that started earlier and had interventions that lasted longer, not only had fewer deaths but also had stronger economic growth after the crisis ended.

That's probably why the Chair of the Federal Reserve is also saying that the US needs to take care of the virus first including much greater government spending first and worry about the economy second. He's right and so is Canada to take strong action now to slow the spread by keeping only essential businesses open and mandating social distancing. And doing it for as long as necessary.
