Title: Any good Black Friday deals?
Post by: ssfc72 on November 24, 2017, 01:41:02 PM
Does anyone know of some good Black Friday deals?

Best Buy has a 2 TB portable slim usb hard drive for $69.  I snagged that one. :-)

Bill

Update - I have used the Seagate Slim 2TB hard drive.  The case is made of plastic and there is a noticeable rumble sound, as the disk is spinning.
The hard drive works well and I have saved a 17 GB file to it.
The USB 3  is very quick with this large a file.
The hard drive has a 2 yr warranty, so if the rumble sound is something abnormal, I am sure it will fail within the 2 yr warranty.

That is a good deal, Bill. I paid about $89 for the same thing two years ago. There are lots of good SSD specials right now at Best Buy, Staples and Newegg. The Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB seems to be on sale everywhere for about $180. One of the sites I noted has a 1 TB Crucial SSD for $299. That's a great deal if you need that big a drive. I thought about it and decided that I don't really.

I bought that 2 years ago for the same price.   Here are few things I'm looking at
I need a new GPS to replace my broken old one.  But, other things are discretionary.

  • Microsoft Store -- Dell XPS 13 (FHD, i5-7200U, 8GB DDR3, 128GB SSD) for $1099.  I think this is what Mike has.
....
I suspect that is the more recent version of the XPS 13; mine was a 2015. Also, mine only came with 4 GB RAM. On the other hand, I paid about $750 for mine (used but with warranty). But that listing is still a good deal. It was selling new for $999 from MS when I bought; it's more now because of the decline of the dollar.[/list]
