So, I wanted to rip a 13 CD Audiobook into MP3 files and then size the mp3 files into 15 minute mp3 files, to listen to on my small mp3 player. Each audiobook CD has 13 tracks, and a total time of about 1 hr 15 minutes per CD.
My issue was the MP3Split program was creating 60, 1 minute mp3 files. :-( I have used MP3Split many times before and never had a problem.
I used K3b to rip the audiobook CD and that went fine. I wound up with 13 mp3 files from the one CD.
I then used MP3Wrap to create 1 large mp3 file from the 13 mp3 files. That went fine.
I then used MP3Split to try and create 4 mp3 files (a little over 15 minutes each, in listening time). This operation however resulted in creating 60, 1 minute mp3 files. :-(
I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what was the problem. I had used MP3Split many times previously to create 4 mp3 files, from 1 large mp3 file.
The solution I found was to take the 1 large mp3 file and use VLC to convert it to another single large mp3 file. This went fine.
I then used MP3Split again, to convert this new single large mp3 file into 4 smaller files. This worked! :-) VLC must have, during the convert operation, stripped out some info, from the large mp3 file, that was creating the 60, 1 minute mp3 files. Whew! Note - the VLC mp3 Convert operation went very fast for the large 1 hour mp3 file. It only took about 2 minutes to convert.
Nicely done!
