I am sorry to report that Robert Kearns has passed away.
Robert attended our PLUG meetings up until about a couple of years ago, before he started to have medical problems,
Robert was staying at the retirement home, where we hold our PLUG meetings.
Robert was a very long time Amateur Radio operator.
The Highland Park funeral.Centre will have more details.
I have known Robert for many years, in the Amateur Radio hobby and he will be greatly missed.

Thanks for telling us Bill. It seems like only a few month ago I stood in the hall and talked to him about living in Applewood. He always seemed a gentleman. And he was I believe younger than me. A shame.
I'm really sorry to hear that. I was concerned as the past six months he hasn't looked very well. He was a kind fellow and had quite an infectious laugh and pleasant manner. That's really quite a shame and the second PLUG member we've lost in only a month. :(
Was it announced in the Amateur Radio group? I think that Bob Foley was good friends with him so I hope he knows as well.
Will there be "group" visitation on Sunday?
Here's the notice:

I am sure Bob must have heard, since he is very active with the Amateur repeaters and meeting for coffee, with the guys.
I sent Bob a text, about Robert, just in case he hasn't heard.

I think I will probably be wise to stay around Lindsay on Sunday, with the Forecast of freezing rain for our area.

Thanks, Bill. I figured he probably did but it's good you did that just to make sure.

If you mean is PLUG going as a group, there aren't any plans for such but I assume anyone is welcome. There is an itinerary on the website and a "tribute wall" that you can leave a message on about Robert.
I knew Robert was sick, but I had no idea that he was that ill. I remember him fondly, a regular member of our club. I will miss him. I think I will attend the visitation or service if the roads aren't too bad on Sunday, which unfortunately they might be.
