Well, it looks like I will probably be losing my different Yahoo email addresses, that I have, now that Verizon has bought Yahoo. :-(
I expect it will just be a mater of time before Verizon does away with the Yahoo email service.

Kind of sad for me, since I have, from probably the beginning of Yahoo (Yet Another Hierarchically Organized Oracle) , used their email service and their Yahoo Groups service, which I found to be great tools.

I guess the CEO, Marissa Mayer,( a former top exec at Google) Yahoo brought to save the company, a few years back, will probably land another top CEO job, at another company.

The BBC website has some good articles about the sale of Yahoo for $4.8 bn, when back in 2008, Microsoft offered $44.6 bn and Yahoo turned that down. Apparently Yahoo has not sold their stake in Chinese firm, Alibaba.

I'm amazed they've held out this long. The announcement group for PLUG is still hosted with Yahoo Groups. They made it really easy to setup a list. We used to have a discussion group on there as well though that was a long, long time ago. Hard to say whether Verizon will get rid of the email and groups. I'm sure they make some money on them with advertising since email is mostly just text (low overhead).

I don't seem to recall seeing any AOL email addresses, any more.
Verizon bought up AOL, years ago.

To be fair though, the acquisition of AOL just happened last year, so they might drop the mail service soon.
