This video explains what is happening and your options. No surprise, one of them is Linux.

My desktop is fully compatible with Windows 11 (i.e. no workarounds necessary), and I already have Windows 11 installed on it. My wife's PC uses Windows 11, but with a workaround. The CPU isn't officially supported. Only time will tell whether or not Microsoft will continue allowing this mode.

Are you using Windows 10, even if it's not your main OS? Don't worry, I won't judge. Do you have to support Windows 10 computers in your household or with family? Or are you using Windows 11 already? And if so, is it officially supported? Or are you using a workaround? Comment back and let us know.

My Dell xps 13 uses Windows 11. It came with 10, but was upgraded.

Marilyn's computer will not upgrade to win 11 because she's using Linux Mint.

My super duper basement junk-room desktop computer runs Win 11.

My ancient 3 core AMD TV computer will live out it's life running Win 10 in a case I bought in 2002.

My everyday, and favorite, Acer laptop, will live out its life running Win 10.

Time is accelerating its speed. I remember when these machines were young. I think Time has switched to Fibre.

Did you have to use a workaround or was it already compatible?

Some would say that Linux is an upgrade from any version of Windows. Those people are my kind of people.

My basement computer is by far the newest and best in the house. It's in the basement because I can wire into the modem. I have the wiring for three different rooms.

I have assembled a newer ( 12th gen i7) Intel system and have yet to license it. Loaded it to start with Win10 Pro. It automatically updated after about 2 weeks. ( The mother ship caught up to me ) The TPM function is achieved within the processor. ( advanced Hyper-V ) but I have an older 6th gen as a daily driver with the same outcome. Except it is referred to as " Service CPU ". Part of the Intel " Management Engine " ( ME ) ( see Intel SA-00075 ) When the Win10 PC's fail to remain supported, a-Linux distro I will go. I have a couple of 4th gen i5's on win10. Keep 'em active.
P.S. thanks for the service maintenance. I am able to log on once again.  Cheers Lads !

Good to read your words again. It's been awhile.

My best computer (Win 11) is not 'official' yet, but the thing I've noticed is that over time it has added desktop images that are spectacular. I think it is trying to seduce me, successfully I think. I'm not sure what more I'd  get if it became official.

Do you do this for customers or only yourself? I'm curious if any computer businesses recommend or help users move to Linux if their hardware is too old. Unless the user needs specific software, I can see how Linux can fill most needs, but I don't know how many businesses have gotten customers to use it.

Kal, I noticed in your signature that you're running Linux on a Mac. You and Fox should share notes. ;D I wonder if we should have a specific section for running Linux on Macs.
