This Link is the CRA webpage for listing the tax programs that can be used to do your Federal Income Tax and submit the Return to the CRA.

The Income Tax program that I use with my Linux Mint computer is, MyTaxExpress and it is still only $6.99 for this years Filing.

Does it work on Linux barebones, or does it need Windows or a virtual machine?

The MyTaxExpress has a download file for Linux computers so barebones and no need for a virtual machine. :-)
The file is an appimage file which you need to bring up the properties of the file and change it to be executable.  Then click on the file and the install begins.

Good to know. This must be the only Canadian tax package that's native for Linux.
