New Thunderbird Re-design

I know more than a few of you use Thunderbird. Here's a bunch of the new features and changes in look.

On my MXLinux Distro, Thunderbird is version 78.13

I don't think I like the look of the 115 version. Seems to be too busy, with 3 panels.

My Thunderbird layout just has the list of emails in the top panel and when you select an email to read, it shows the  email in a large panel, below the list of emails, to read.

I would imagine you could change that in settings somewhere. Probably in a view menu if it has one. Or just settings or preferences.

What version of MX Linux are you using? I think it was just released so it wouldn't show up as a package for a while. If you want to try it out now, you can get the Flatpak - link at the bottom of the article. I don't think it will affect your existing installation of Thunderbird. Use Timeshift and you can restore your system should things go wrong.

I know you found that Timeshift took up too much space but that's only because of the number of backups you chose, or the default if you didn't. The first backup is going to be big because it's backing up your entire system minus your home files, unless you added them, too (not a good idea).

The website for Thunderbird lists the new features here where it says:

Take full control by customizing the toolbar and window layout to perfectly fit your workflow.

So you should be able to change that the way you like it.

I already have a 3 panel view in Thunderbird. The changes look to pretty it up a bit.

I use a local client for my Tutanota email address but they have their own client so it's not relevant for me. But I might try Thunderbird with Gmail just to get a feel for it again. Its old appearance was outdated for my taste.
