Found the problem! I started by loading FF without extensions. That worked; both files played. I then went to refresh FF, and it didn't work again. But that was because my account was loaded, so all the extensions came back. I then signed out of my account, refreshed again, and all was well. I started reloading extensions, and found the culprit that way. It was "Volume Booster" that was the problem. I ditched that, tried another volume booster extension, and the trouble returned, even though I hadn't boosted the volume. Removed that and all is well!

Nice problem solving there. Weird I never thought of suggesting an extension as the problem. It can cause a lot of problems. Sometimes it's not the extension but interactions with other extensions that cause trouble.
