You might recall that Wine lets you run Windows programs under Linux (and other OSes). They've just released the stable version of Wine 6.0 which is a massive change with two years of development on it with over 8000 changes. And it includes support for ARM64 which is what the new Apple hardware is based (or going to be based?) on. It looks like there's a little something for everyone in it, users, developers and gamers.

Yes! I'm waiting for CrossOver to upgrade so that it uses Wine 6. I'm hoping it allows me to use the current version of MS Office (2019), as I get this from the University. I still need to use MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The latest version that works well on Wine (CrossOver) is 2010!

Hope you can support newer versions with it. But I don't know if that was in the list of features. The link might tell you or check out the CrossOver website to see if they know.

I just checked Codeweaver's website. There hasn't been an upgrade to Crossover since last November, so the current version isn't incorporating Wine 6 yet.

That makes sense, really. It wasn't that long ago that it was released. And the CrossOver team will have to incorporate it into their own product and test it.
