Fascinating editorial by and old NDP war house about how even if the Liberals are gone, the NDP may never form a majority. He says more or less that the Right-wing will do or say *anything* no matter how low, no matter how untrue, no matter how slimy to stay in power. The story dragged up a few days before the election about Layton being found in a bawdy house 15 years ago is just the tip of the iceberg.

Hi:

Hopefully, things won't be as bad as this commentator makes out.  Some say the smear may have helped Jack; time will tell.

We haven't talked much about Sun News Network (Fox News north).  It will be interesting to see if that catches on (Hopefully not).

I think his article is more a warning to the NDP that we need to be prepared for the horrible things the Right wing will say about them. Whether it will work or not depends in part of what Canadians think about Layton and how easily they might believe bad things about him. Right now, I think he has a good reputation and smearing probably doesn't work. I, for one, think that the Conservatives will attack the NDP based on Bob Rae mainly which will have the dual-affect of maligning the Liberals when Rae takes over.
