February 2008 PLUG meeting slideshow

Harry sent me the slideshow he used at the February meeting. From what I heard Harry did several great presentations. This slideshow has to do with carrying your settings over when you change Linux distributions such as your bookmarks, email and email addresses.

Death of Net Neutrality in Canada?

ImageBell recently changed how it manages its wholesale Internet service to smaller ISPs who buy it from them. As covered by major news outlets, Bell is now using traffic shaping on that bandwidth as well as their own. The Globe and Mail reports that,

"On Thursday, the CAIP filed a formal application with the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission, demanding the regulator issue an immediate "cease and desist" order to Bell to stop the telecom giant from "throttling" or "shaping" the traffic on the wholesale networks it sells to smaller ISPs."

Joomla Update

ImageThe website's content management system, Joomla, has just been updated to the most recent version. You probably won't notice a big change - it's mainly just a security update. But please let me know if you notice any unusual weirdness. The usual weirdness I can't do anything about.Cool
