ImageITWorld has the interesting experience of a Windows user and author who decided to try Linux, specifically Ubuntu, for two weeks. These are his thoughts. I thought it was a well-balanced review. He has valid criticisms of Linux as well as some things he really likes about Linux.

openSUSE 11.1 Install Demo Video

ImageRecently, I installed openSUSE 11.1 as a virtual machine using the free VirtualBox software under Windows Vista. Since I wanted to also test out the free CamStudio, I recorded the install using it and have uploaded it here for everyone's enlightement (or boredom).

Other than cutting out most of the actual files copying, it's all here. Note the occasional double icon you see is a result of switching between host (openSUSE) and guest (Vista).

Click to open in browser or right-click if you'd like to download it (recommended).

Comments are appreciated and can be posted in the forum thread here .

ImageAPC (the UPS and surge proector guys) has a great guide on installing Ubuntu Linux alongside Windows XP with lots of screenshots and not a lot of reading. Looks like it hits the main points. There are similar articles on dualbooting and triplebooting other OSes including those involving Vista here:

Full guide

Thanks to Ron Zinck for suggesting the links.
